Internet Domains

Faculties and departments of the University are offered by BITS the possibility of registering top-level Internet domains (de, eu, info, biz, name, com, net, museum, coop, org, cat, mobi, ...) as well as their setup and operation on the DNS servers of BITS.

Scope of services

Registration of a domain via the German Research Network (DFN) and operation of the DNS.

Requirements

Target group

  • Faculties and departments of Bielefeld University

Application

An application can be made via BITS (see Support). Interested employees should first contact the IT supervisor of the department.

The application template (in German) must be completed and sent to servicedesk@uni-bielefeld.de.

Deployment times

The provision is subject to the availability of the registrars.

Costs

  • One-time for the registration EURO 36,00/year plus
    VAT.
  • Ongoing annual maintenance EURO 36,00/year plus
    VAT
    pro rata from the day of domain registration
